ArcPad, the Basics 

 

 

Basics of ArcPad data collection will be covered, from gathering data such as points, lines and polygons with solutions for exporting to a Geodatabase, including tips and tricks for improving workflow. Discuss the hardware and software that comprise the solution

We will start by setting up a quick project for data collection using the GPS unit. Then we will spend time outside using the GPS unit, taking data. We will bring them back into the classroom and explore the different approaches and methods of processing.

 

Several different types of GPS equipment will be studied in the classroom and used in the field. In addition to traditional GPS handheld units, we will discuss PDA based ArcPad/GPS equipment.

GPS units will be provided

Wear Shoes that are comfortable for walking.

These workshops are intended for the public, including persons working in GIS related fields for improving career advancement, students without GIS skills and those currently enrolled in the GIS Program are encouraged to attend.

 

 

Novice indicates a basic knowledge of computers necessary but no prior GIS skills; Intermediate recommended basic GIS skills; and Advanced is recommended for persons working with GIS and students of MSJC’s GIS Program.
